Masha was born in Russia, but did most of her growing in San Diego, CA. From there she went back to the cold
while completing her BFA in Lighting Design at Emerson College (Boston, MA). Now she's returned to the West and is
hoping to find a happy medium in the Bay Area. She is fascinated by different forms of performance art and how
each calls for a varying application of visual mediums. In lighting, Masha finds contrasts, theatricality, and
movement are what catches her eye and keeps her interest as a designer. She has had the opportunity to design a
number of new works and finds that process extremely invigorating. She has always been interested, some may say
obsessed, with literature, art in its various forms (and its history), and photography, which now all neatly
fit into the lighting design package. Masha has discovered, when designing, that finding the right balance of eye,
heart, and mind is often the key.
